And WHAT a Retreat
it was!!
27 April
through 1 May 09 saw a fabulous group of people
enjoying the atmosphere of the Great Smokey
Mountains at Arrowmont Center for Arts &
Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN. PMC Connection hosted
their Bi-annual International Artist’s
Retreat in this new venue to the delight of
all. Our days were filled with classes covering
many exciting, new techniques taught by an extraordinary
cadre of teachers from around the globe. Evening
activities included a Raku party, Texture Exchange,
and, of course, a private exhibition of the
pieces completed during the week on Friday night.
All of the sumptuous meals were prepared fresh
in the on-sight kitchen facilities. The homemade
breads, vegetarian entrees and incredible desserts
were among my favorites.
But beyond
all of this, the camaraderie, friendship (both
new and old) and goodwill we all shared throughout
the entire week was nothing short of incredible.
With the exception of a few Arrowmont staff,
every single person was there for the Retreat.
Everyone could talk, dine and meet with every
other person knowing that we all had so very
much in common. The immense pleasure of that
feeling of community was divine. We were cocooned
in an aura of learning, knowledge and cooperation.
To my knowledge no other conference or retreat
has captured that element. So, congratulations
to each and every participant for making this
retreat such a wonderful success.
